19th century. To include: A) Mexican short sword or machete with an inlaid horn handle with inset Mexican silver coins, copper rivets, engraved blade: “Servo Amidueno Ortiz” on one side and “Serapio Peres” on the other side as well as eagle motifs. Has a tooled leather scabbard. 31″ long. Good condition, shows minor wear. B) A colonial short saber or espada ancha with horn handle with silver hilt and mounts. Scabbard is silver and copper mesh. 20 1/2″ long. Good condition. Provenance: From the estate of Alan Gaines of A & A Gaines Antiques, Newport, Rhode Island.
